I'm travelling for work this week with long days, but I was determined to get my run in. I packed my running clothes, but forgot my running shoes so turned around back down the highway to pick them up on my way out of town on Tuesday. That's dedication!
Today I went to a gym I'd never been to, which luckily had a free treadmill as I didn't have time to wait. I got on and did 10 minutes at 10:00/mile, then upped the speed from last week to 8:20/mile and did 400m, 800m, 1200m, 800m at that pace. My pre-run mental math failed me on how long it would take to do all of this, so at that point I dropped the last 400m I'd planned and just ran another mile at 10:00/mile, did a quick stretch, showered in my clothes to save time, changed and got back on the road! Phew!
It feels good to be able to go faster each week. When I started running again back in February, 10:00/mile on the treadmill felt so hard, but today it was a nice recovery pace.
Working tonight, then back home tomorrow.
Greatjob fitting in that run and working a faster pace!
