Treats and Rewards

I thought running was a cheap form of exercise. Maybe for those barefoot runners it is. Not for me. Running makes me feel good, but not quite good enough. There has to be a little more, to make me feel better, to keep me going. A little carrot on the end of a stick kind of thing. When I complete all of my planned runs, I think I deserve a little something extra, so I buy myself a little treat. This wouldn't be quite so expensive if I did this once a month, but I'm talking about every week, and it's starting to add up!

I do buy practical, running related things, mostly. A new Runner's World magazine, a new pair of running socks, a new running shirt. Last week I treated myself to a Booster Juice and a cookie from the bakery in town. Am I the only one that does this? What rewards do you buy? Is running in and of itself enough for you? Pleeeeeease comment! I want some comments!!

Today was a beautiful sunny day and I almost excused myself from the treadmill again in order to run outside but it was very windy, so treadmill it was. I ran intervals through an episode of Grey's Anatomy and felt great afterwards, though my running shoes were tied too tight and I lost feeling in my feet for the last 10 minutes. Bah.

  1. Hey, thanks for stoppubg by and leaving a comment, and for adding me to your Blog List too! Just became a follower of your blog. :)

I try to limit the rewards to long run days, otherwise I would be breaking the bank and getting fat! LOL!
