Happy Monday!

I had a great, great weekend! After my run on Saturday I didn't end up going to Prince George afterall, but just went out for dinner with my boyfriend in Quesnel. It was probably the worst meal of all time, but it was so bad, it was hilarious.

We went to a restaurant that has apparently been in town here for over 30 years and was once Quesnel's best fine dining experience. We'd been once before and it was clear that absolutely nothing in the restaurant had been updated since it had opened, aside from the prices. The food was REALLY bad the first time we went, but new owners had just taken it over so after we noticed that they had done some renos on the outside, we thought maybe the inside and the menu had been updated as well. When you live in a small town, you have to give the businesses a second shot because there's not too much to choose from!

There was a fresh coat of paint on the walls, but everything else was still the same. The funny thing was, the place was full! I'm guessing everyone else was thinking the same way we were and were there to try out the "new" restaurant. The food could best be described as hospital-ish. Bland, either over or under cooked, and mushy. One of my sides was canned beets. We were laughing the entire time about what Gordon Ramsay would say if this place was on Kitchen Nightmares. We both felt sick afterwards, so I don't think we'll be trying for the third time charm.

Anyway, that had nothing to do with running, but I thought I'd share!

Sunday I went for a 5 km walk with a co-worker/friend, and today I went out for a sunny run. I wanted to do more than 5 km, but I really wanted to run on the river walk that goes around downtown and along the Fraser and Quesnel Rivers which is only 5.2 km, so I just did one loop and a little bit. This was fine, but I felt kinda silly passing people 3 times, especially because one of those people was my hairdresser and I was a little embarassed to see her with my short hair pulled and pinned into a dorky ponytail. I don't know why, but I always want my hair to look good when I see my hairdresser! I'm not sure how far I went in total, probably around 6.5 kms I finished the 5.2 km loop in 29:11 and ran 37:11 in total.

  1. Aw, too bad about the disappointing dinner, but at least you were able to laugh about it.

  2. I really hate going to a restaurant and having a bad dinner! Totally stinks!

In response to your comment yesterday, I seemed to have been misunderstood in my post yesterday! Ok so I do love the treadmill but I do hate it too! I usually do most of my runs outsides during all season unless its like pouring out or there is a blizzard and ice! The only reason I am able to bear the treadmil is because usually I just do intervals on it.

sometimes I do a fartlek workout of sorts where I run at a faster pace say 7:30 pace for 1-2 minutes, then a normal pace say 8:30 pace for 1 or 2 or 3 minutes depending on how I feel. I really like doing those workouts because it makes the time go fast and it keeps me distracted! Plus I always have music and the TVs at the gym to watch while I run which is like double distraction which helps a TON! Hope this gives you some ideas!
