Blizzardy, Blizzardy, Blizzard! Yep! We got a huge dump of snow overnight, just as I was really thinking spring was here to stay. I really can't complain as we had a very mild winter. Remember how they were trucking snow into the Olympics in Vancouver? I live almost 700 kms (435 miles) north of there, and they definitely weren't trucking it from here, 'cause we didn't have any either. It was actually very pretty this morning as the sky was bright blue, the sun was shining, the mills weren't belching out too much smoke, and all of the snow was covering the trees. Very picture-postcardy -- if it was December. But it's April, and I'm ready for spring!!
I just checked out the forecast for the rest of the week, and Thursday it's supposed to be 15*C (59*F), and snowing. How does that make any sense?
My achey shins still felt like they needed more of a break from running so I decided today would be my cross-training day. I've never really done cross training before; I like running because I can head straight out the door and run without going to the gym (except when I'm a weather wimp). I've never been a big fan of lifting weights of any kind because I have such weak arms that it's embarassing and so I continue to have weak arms. I like to bike, but my bike is in storage in my grandmother's basement in Ontario. I knew I wanted to start doing some cross training this month, but I wasn't sure what to do. I decided to try a class at the rec centre and went for the stability ball class because it fit my schedule.
I wasn't really sure what to expect. I had taken some youth that I work with to a cardio class a couple of years ago, and the next youngest person in the room was at least 30 years older than me, and all in WAY better shape. When I tried Aquafit with another group of youth, the ladies were more into socializing than exercizing. I kind of wanted a class where I might get to meet some more people in town, but I also wanted to work! I got just that class. The other ladies were very friendly, but also very into their workout. My weak little arms feel stronger already! I'll definitely be going back!
Hi Amy,
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, you got more snow!?! That is depressing and I am sorry:) Take care of your shins girl! Have a good one...tomorrow is Friday:)
A blizzard!? I hope the snow doesn't stick around. We're having a cold day here (1C) but supposed to go back up to 15 by Sunday. Crazy weather...
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good cross-training class!
