I love long weekends.
The BF was gone for the weekend to a bachelor party with 14 other guys all sporting handlebar mustaches (guys are so weird) so I had the house to myself for the weekend. I didn't spend much time here though!
Saturday I was out volunteering in the morning, getting my haircut in the afternoon and in the evening headed to Wells with a friend for the Eat Your Art Out Dinner. We had a bit of snow mixed with rain in Quesnel on Friday, but nothing that stayed on the ground. It was sunny on Saturday so we both headed out in cute, little flats. What a surprise to pull off the highway in Wells to streets covered in snow. You could tell the Wellsians apart from the Quesnelians by their footwear! The event was to raise money for the Arts Wells festival in the summer and featured yummy Middle Eastern food and Belly Dancing for entertainment. We ended up sitting with the dancers who are all keen to teach any and all who are interested leaving me wondering if belly dancing might count as cross training? It would definitely be a core workout!!
Sunday I went out for a 5 km run. I'm really bored of the 2 different 5 km loops I can do from my house. One is very flat so it seems like I'm not doing much at all, and the other one I've just done too many times. I need to find some new places to run, but that will mean getting in my car more often.
The bf came home in the afternoon with my Easter present - a whole bunch of goodies from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Perhaps Easter Weekend was the wrong time to make resolutions about better eating habits!
Today I'm back to work, but taking it easy as it's about to get very busy with a lot of nights away and long days. I decided I need to make at least one of my non-long runs longER than 5 kms and went out to run 8 kms today. My iPod died just as my legs were feeling pretty tired, so I ended the run at 7.3 kms and did a good stretch. Not quite as far as I wanted to go, but still further than 5kms. Travelling tomorrow, so the next run will be intervals on Wednesday.
Hi Amy,
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo for Rocky Mountain Chocolate...it is the best:) It sounds like you had a busy and fun weekend! I also sometimes get tired of running the same routes. I should really start exploring a little...we have two very large park preserves close to where I live:) Have a good one Amy!
Sounds like a nice weekend! Mmm, Rocky Mountain CHocolate!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the runs.
