For the scary drivers, that is. Geesh. During my 5K run today, I had 3 close calls with cars, the third one being the closest. Each time, I DEFINITELY had the right of way. The first two times the cars were stopped at stop signs and I was on a road that had no stop. The first driver gave ME the finger, (right back atcha man in white minivan) while the second actually stopped to apologize (that was nice man in grey pick up). After those 2, I wasn't taking any chances and (thought) I had made eye contact with drivers going in both directions as I headed out into a cross walk. The first driver stopped (well done man in black pickup), the second one sped up (karma's going to getcha man in in black car!), and the person behind him would have hit me if I hadn't stopped mid-intersection to let him go by. The third driver was kind enough to recognize that thick white lines painted across the intersection give the pedestrian the right of way. Thank you lady in the white car.
Despite the near misses, it was a much better 5K than I thought it would be. I really didn't feel like running today. My body was kinda achy from my On the Ball class yesterday, and I just wasn't feelin' it. But post-run, I feel much better, so hopefully that will make my long run tomorrow a bit easier.
After my run tomorrow, I'll be driving to Prince George. I have a few errands to do, including driving the course of the half marathon for the following weekend, and then I'll be picking my grandmother up at the airport. She has been to every other province, but never to BC, so she's very excited to be visiting, and I'm excited to have her here. Here's a (very unflattering) photo of the two of us in Oakville during my visit to Ontario last summer:
oh i hate drivers. They are not considerate at all!!!! how dare that man give you the finger! ugh!!1
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons I run really early in the morning is to avoid those silly people. Glad you are ok and didnt get hit - it can be really scary.
ReplyDeleteHi Amy,
ReplyDeleteI am so paranoid every time I cross a street! I can relate to your driver issues. It is like everyone forgot all about what a crosswalk is for....yea, for people to cross the street safely!
Have a fun time with your grandma:)
Cars always win so I am extra careful after almost getting hit last year.
ReplyDeleteUgh, have to be SO careful with drivers!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great weekend with your grandmother.
