1. Great run this morning! I'm in Prince George for work and one of the youth volunteers I work with asked if he could run with me in the morning. He had to leave for his volunteer position at 7:45, so we agreed to get up and be ready to run at 6. Sometimes when I run with these guys, they take off and leave me in their dust. Other times, we end up doing a lot more walking than running. This morning, we just had a great run. We chatted the whole way about life plans and goals, the program, running, diet and exercise, physical and mental health, budgeting and other life skills. After a 2K warm up we both made it to the top of University Hill, a 3K climb, and back to the house for an 11K run in ~1:05 (Garmin died, so we were relying on his watch).
2. It's official. I lost my first toe nail. I'll spare you a photo, but the short version is that it turned black just after my marathon in October and hung on for months. The black was finally clearing away last week and I thought I was going to have a normal toe for summer, until I was drying my feet after a shower and it just kinda peeled off. Gross.
3. I'm heading to Calgary for work on Sunday. It's a 12 hour drive, and I'm doing it in one shot, by myself. Any suggestions for a good audio book? Remember, I'm driving - so it needs to keep me awake, not put me to sleep!
Sounds like a GREAT start to the day!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your first toenail casualty. ;) I have one on the way out...
congrats on the lost toenail :) those suckers take FOREVER to fall off
ReplyDeleteThe toenail is kind of exciting. The few black ones I've had always make me feel tough. 12 hours is a long drive...I don't have any suggestions on books - lots of caffeine and loud music usually get me through long drives, good luck with yours!
ReplyDeleteuve been killing it with ur runs lately! great job.
ReplyDeleteive never lost a toenail. prolly not very pretty! haha
audiobooks...lets see:
something running related: Born to Run
something girly: Vision in White by Nora Roberts
something funny: Me Talk Pretty One day by David Sedaris
something funny: Are you there Vodka, its me Chelsea by Chelsea Handler.
good luck!
sounds like a nice run, and congrates on the toenail, I have yet to ever loose one and I used to do ballet as well as run, guess I've just been lucky. :p

Can't help you on the books, but have a safe drive!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the toenail. ;o)
Yeah for a nice run, love to have company when I run, especially when the pace fits. I recently listened to teh audio bok (safe haven) by Nicholas Sparks. It's a love story about a woman who is falling in love after she was abused. I liked it. Check out aidble.com, they have recommendations. Good luck and be safe!
ReplyDeleteA great way to start the day. As a solitary runner I know very well how beautiful it is to make the workouts with other persons.
ReplyDeleteI hope that the work-trip to Calgary was fruitful. Have a good week.
I have yet to have a toe nail fall off, yuck.
