One Week to Go!

At this time next week, I'll be recovering from marathon number 2!

Training went pretty well this past week.

I did miss Monday's run.  After spending the weekend away, we learned the BF's dad was in the hospital (he's ok now), and went to visit him on Sunday we we returned home.  Monday, I was feeling "off" all day and was worried/paranoid that I was coming down with something after touching elevator buttons in the hospital, so I took the extra rest day.  I felt find by Tuesday, so it was either all in my head, or the extra rest paid off in my speedy recovery. :)

Wednesday's group run ended with sprinting around the track, which led me to one final speedy workout on Friday.

Saturday's long run was not my best, but I felt better about it on Sunday.  I had met the BF's sister-in-law and nephew out on their bikes on the trail on my first lap around. They were stopped for a quick snack and I paused to chat for a few minutes before carrying on.  When I saw them on Sunday for Easter dinner, they said they couldn't catch up to me!  Yes, the nephew is only 7, but still - they were on bikes!  A nice little confidence boost.

My plan for the final week?  I'm going to be hydrating like crazy (something I haven't been too good at lately) and trying to get to bed a bit earlier than usual.  I have today off, and am taking Friday off to drive to Vancouver, so it's nice to only have a 3 day work week leading up to the race.

What's your final week routine?

  1. I have a couple of short runs left and that's it. Carb-load dinner with running group is Friday night. Other than that, water and lots of it (I'm currently drinking my last Coke until after the race). I'm avoiding package pickup by having a friend get mine. I'll have my feet up most of this week, except Wednesday when I have to go downtown to get my Polar watch battery replaced. Can't have it die before or on Sunday!

Have a safe drive down on Friday! :)
